How is OT different than PT?
This is the question I’m asked the most. Do we share an understanding of the physical body and how it moves? Yes! Do we often work in similar settings? Also, yes. Of course, I’m biased, so I can only speak for OT. It seems that the biggest distinction is how we view the ways in which people live.
As a client, you might not notice a difference at first. But you’ll likely be asked different questions about your daily life and how your pelvic health concerns impact your ability to participate in life. To get to the heart of the matter, we will ask you a LOT of questions about specific things.
Occupational therapists are also fantastic problem solvers. We might suggest some goofy ideas for strategies and ask for your input. We will hopefully have some fun together in the process! Most importantly, we will find tools that work for your routine and life balance.
